Welcome

This is where we, hopefully, hear the good news that you can make it to our wedding! (We understand if you can't and you will definitely be missed).

You will also find a whole heap of useful information about the wedding, Waiheke and Auckland. Please let us know if there is something you want to know that we have missed, you can e-mail us at annickspro@gmail.com, leaving a comment here (just click on 'COMMENT' below the relevant entry), or give us a ring on

Love Anne & Nick

The Wedding

We will be married at 3.30pm at St Peter's Catholic Church, 205 Ocean View Rd Waiheke on Friday 6th March 2009. A reception will then be held at Mudbrick Vineyard and Restaurant , beginning at 5pm with drinks and canapes, with dinner being served at 7pm.

Mudbrick is on Waiheke Island, a small and beautiful island just off the coast of Auckland. We've chosen the venue because of it's fantastic views that show Auckland, and Waiheke, at its best.

Your little people are welcome at both the ceremony and reception, however we are aware that it may be a late night for some, or you might want to take this opportunity to let your hair down. If you would like to organise babysitting, let us know and we will give you details of the nanny agency on the island.

Wedding RSVP

So... here's were you let us know the fantastic news you'll be coming :-) or ... :-( you won't make it ...

Either way, click on the comment link below and leave a note letting us know if you will be able to make it. Please include any specific dietary requirements you may have.

Transport RSVP

Please leave a comment to let us know what flight you are on if you are coming in from overseas, what ferry you plan on taking to the island and if you would like to take the bus to and from the wedding. More info, including ferry timetables, is under transport.

BBQ RSVP

We haven't sorted out the exact details as yet, but will definitely be having a BBQ somewhere out east, probably Bucklands Beach on Saturday afternoon/evening. Please let us know if you will be coming.

Transport

Getting to Auckland
There are a number of airlines that fly from Sydney to Auckland

Information about shuttles, taxis and hire cars can be found at the Auckland Airport website.

Getting to Waiheke
There are two ferry services to Waiheke: Fullers and Sealink. Both are offerieng discounts on their standard fares for our guests.

Fullers Ferries leave from the city and arrive at the Matiatia wharf, the ferry terminal on Waiheke. Buses are timed to meet these sailings, and there is quite often taxis waiting. If you show your invitation when purchasing your ticket, you will get your return ticket at the discounted rate of $28.80. Timetables for the ferry between Auckland and Waiheke can be found here.

The Sealink Ferry leaves from Halfmoon Bay (close to us) arrives at Kennedy point at Waiheke. This is primarily designed as a car ferry, so if you plan on taking your car over this is the ferry for you. Sealink is offering a discounted ticket of $24 - you just need to give them your name. If you take a Sea-link ferry without your car, make sure you book a taxi to pick you up at the other end - there is no terminal or public transport at Kennedy Point.

Although you will save a few dollars traveling with Sealink, unless you are taking your car, we would suggest you travel with Fullers. We think you will have a more comfortable ride and you will likely spend the money you save on taxi fares.

Transport on Waiheke
There are a number of ways you can get around the island:

There are also shuttles that can take you around if you have a group of people you want to get around together. Contact Waiheke Shuttles on 027 237 9849.

Transport to and from our wedding
These forms of transport will help you explore the island, however for transport to and from the wedding we have arranged a bus as transport to and from Onetangi Beach Apartments at a cost of approximately $15 per guest (the exact price will be dependant on how many guests are using the bus). The bus will pick guests up at the apartments at 3:00pm and will do a return trip at 1:00am.

There is only a small number of taxis on the island and they will not cope with transporting large numbers at one time. PLEASE don't rely on taxis to get to the wedding if you can avoid it - they have had many guests late for Waiheke weddings.

Post wedding BBQ

We will be having a BBQ at 101 Waller Ave. Bucklands Beach on the Saturday afternoon after the wedding (7th March) that we'd love you to come to. Please let us know in your reply if you think you will be coming to the BBQ.

Gifts

Thankyou for looking hear, but be assured we do not expect a gift - having you share our day is the most wonderful gift ever. If, however, you would like to give us a gift ontop of your presence, please read on ...

In our home we have the things
That living together always brings
Toasters, tumblers we have bought
And because of this we thought
A honeymoon donation would be great
If wedding guests wish to participate
So we can ski overseas or travel far & wide
But never leave each others side
And when our honeymoon is done
We will thank you all for the fun.
However if a gift you would rather find
Please be assured that we will not mind!
Nest has a list for your pleasure
So whatever you get, we will surely treasure!

Accommodation on Waiheke

Waiheke is a very popular destination in the summer and accomodation can fill up quickly, so we suggest you book early if possible. Note that if you are staying on the island the night of the wedding, most accommodation will have a 2-night minimum stay policy, as it is a Friday night.

We are recommending guests stay at Onetangi Beach Appartments, where we have made a group reservation for Thursday and Friday nights under Sprosen/Walpole. The reservation will be held until 11th January. This is where the bus is doing drop-off and pick-ups.

Below we have listed some information about the rooms that is not available on the website. Please see the appartment's website for rates etc.
  • Courtyard Studios: 1 x double bed and 1 x sofa bed
  • Courtyard & Beachfront 1 bedroom apartments: 1 x double bed and 1 x sofa bed
  • Courtyard & Beachfront 2 bed appartments: 1 x double bed, 1 x king split (can sleep double or 2 singles) and 1 x sofabed
  • Crows Nest: 2 bedroom 2 x king split (can sleep double or 2 singles) and 1 x sofa
  • Strand Apartments: 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms 1 x double and 1 x king split (can sleep double or 2 singles)
If you want to share a larger unit to cut down on costs, why not put a comment under this post to find others who want to do the same.

If you would like to stay somewhere other than the Onetangi Appartments, the Waiheke Tourist Information Site is the best place to look, with a large list of accomodation providers.

Backpacker Hostels
If you were after particularly cheap accommomodation, you may want to look at the backpacker hostelys on the island:

Accommodation in Auckland

The best (and probably most cost effective) way of booking accommodation in Auckland will be through wotif.com. When lookin at areas to stay in, the North Shore and West are quite a distance from both the city and us.

If you were wanting to stay close to us, either look for acomodation in 'East' in wotif, or other options could be:

If you find accomodation and want to see where it is in Auckland, go to wises maps.

We do have a small number of firends and family who have offered to put people up for the weekend. If you would like to stay with some of these lovely people, give us a call or e-mail us and we will see what we can arrange.

About Waiheke

Waiheke is a beautiful island with lots of things to do if you wanted to head over a few days before the wedding. Waiheke has something for everyone ... wine, beaches, bush, art, and water sports such as sailing and kayaking.

The Waiheke Island Tourism Website is probably your best source of information on things to do and see on Waiheke. It has maps of the island, contacts for places of interest and activities, lists of accomodation and restaraunts and a whole lot more.

Things to see and do in Auckland

Auckland is a beautiful city with heaps of things to do, both in and around Auckland.

Our suggestions would be:
Visit Piha Beach in West Auckland and stop at elevation Cafe on the way home for some great food with fantasitc views back to the city.

Visit Hot Water Beach (a couple of hours out of Auckland) and dig your own hot pool.

and of course look around the central city - climb the Sky Tower and if you're feeling adventurous, do the sky walk or sky jump, and have lunch in the The Domain.

The Auckland Tourism site and the AA's 101 things to do sites are probably your best starting point for ideas. The AA site covers the whole country, so if you're staying a little longer and want to go further afield, definitely check it out.
